The Rainbow Connection’s primary mission is to grant wishes to children with life threatening illnesses. It has been our experience that families that receive wishes carry many burdens resulting from the medical crisis. The Special Response Program is designed to address the issues that Wish Families face when dealing with the long term illness of their child. Our Case Managers are sensitive to the special needs of our wish families and will provide support services such as utility assistance, information and referral and always a listening ear.
The Rainbow Connection Special Response Program guidelines include:
- Families can qualify for assistance one year before or one year after a wish has been granted by The Rainbow Connection.
- Referrals can be made directly by hospital staff, social workers, or any one aware of the difficult situation a Wish Family is having.
- The Wish Director for The Rainbow Connection will work with the Wish Child’s primary Social Worker to coordinate and compliment services.
- All efforts will be made to use conventional resources for necessary services first before using any funds available through The Rainbow Connection’s Special Response Program.
